Mrs Eaton, Mr Crew and Mrs Vaughan are the Y5 teachers and they are supported by Mrs Boulton, Mrs Spriggs, Mrs Stock and Mrs Pickering.
We are excited to be working with our new classes and are looking forward to a successful year ahead with a creative curriculum to ensure all the children have a chance to shine.
Another great week at school. Mr Jordan’s class have been working hard with both their street dancing and cricket coaching whilst Mrs Vaughan and Miss Carter’s class have been working hard in their swimming- every child this week went in the big pool! Next week they will be learning about water safety so need to bring some pyjamas with them! Y5 VCW class assembly has been postponed till after the school holidays, dates will be given in the next newsletter. We still have our parent’s morning on Thursday though so we hope to see you all there.
What a jam packed week we are having! On Monday some of the children took part in bikeability. The children worked incredibly hard and rode safely around the estate. On Wednesday we had the VR headsets. The children had a fantastic experience with these. Mr Jordan’s class have also been working incredibly hard on their class assembly and what a fantastic job they did. Well done!
Wow! What a great way to spend an afternoon! Year 5 VC have had the opportunity to receive cricket coaching from Derbyshire County Cricket Club. We have really enjoyed our sessions and our skills are certainly improving.
We had a fantastic outdoor percentages lesson last Wednesday, which was a stunningly sunny day.We learned the definition of ‘per cent’, including its Roman origins (ask your child!).The children hunted in four teams to complete their percentages puzzle and raced against each other and the tenths and hundredths of Mr Jordan’s stopwatch!
Great fun and excellent learning, in the sun, in Year 5!
