Mrs Eaton, Mr Crew and Mrs Vaughan are the Y5 teachers and they are supported by Mrs Boulton, Mrs Spriggs, Mrs Stock and Mrs Pickering.
We are excited to be working with our new classes and are looking forward to a successful year ahead with a creative curriculum to ensure all the children have a chance to shine.
What a great first week back to school. We all had such a fantastic time at The Deep. It was such a great experience to sleep (well some of us!!!) with the fish, turtles and stingrays.
This week we have also had a brief introduction to our new topic on Eyam and the Plague. We would like to say a huge well done to Shanley, Maisy, Emily and Callum who have brought some outstanding pieces of work in from our homework challenges. We look forward to seeing more of these.
Another jammed packed week for Year Five. This week we enjoyed using the glockenspiels in our music lesson and some children took part in bikeability. We ended the week with another fantastic World Book Day. We were blown away with the outfits from both the children and staff. Great Work!
Just a reminder it is parent’s morning 9:00-9:30 Thursday 22nd and it would be great to see you all there as the children will have a little treat for you!
Well no snow this week so we have all been working hard at school. The children have enjoyed learning more about Fairtrade and are looking forward to taste testing some fairtrade products to see if they can spot any differences.
Mrs Vaughan and Mrs Carter’s class also had some exciting news on Monday. Their movie trailer was the monthly winner for Lit Film Fest and the class will be going to the cinema in the summer to watch their trailer on the big screen. Well done.
This week has been Literacy Week. This started off with us listening to the talented Mr Page telling us all about his Ronnie the Rock Goblin books that have been published and the process he went through for editing and redrafting. Then it was our turn! We have spent the week editing and redrafting our own Ronnie the Rock Goblin stories. We hope Mr Page has enjoyed reading these and who knows, maybe our ideas will appear in his next book! Look out for a display coming shortly in the school with extracts we have produced.
Just a reminder that next week is the last swimming session for Y5PE. Y5VW will start Tuesday 13th February.
Year 5 have had a great start to 2018. They have been working hard during their Literacy and Computing lessons to create a mythical movie trailer. Next week we will be entering our trailers into a competition. So watch this space....we may have some movie stars!
