Mrs Eaton, Mr Crew and Mrs Vaughan are the Y5 teachers and they are supported by Mrs Boulton, Mrs Spriggs, Mrs Stock and Mrs Pickering.
We are excited to be working with our new classes and are looking forward to a successful year ahead with a creative curriculum to ensure all the children have a chance to shine.
This week we have been learning about how to use adjectives, metaphors and similes in poetry. The Halloween Disco and dress up day gave Year 5 the opportunity to perform some revolting rhymes in groups, whilst they were dressed for the part.
Year Five have once again been working hard in P.E. Mrs Eaton's class have been taking part in weekly swimming lesson whilst Mrs Vaughan and Mr Crew's class have been having Street Dancing lessons! Here's a sneak peek of their dance routine!
This week Year 5 were engaged in an ancient battle, learning about forces. We discussed, observed and modelled the way forces can change, such as a javelin being propelled and losing momentum to fall back to the ground and a tug of war match that looks like it was going one way, just to end up with the momentum going the other way and a team ending up on the floor. What an eventful end to another great week at Spire Juniors!
This week James Kirton, a Team GB swimmer, came to give Spire an inspirational talk on always trying your best. He also led the children in an energetic circuit workout.
A huge well done to Mrs Eaton's class for a fantastic class assembly! The children have learnt so much on Anglo Saxons in just 10 days and they have worked incredibly hard to put all of their knowledge into a brilliant performance. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who came along to watch!
