WORKING FOR OUR CHILDREN

Our Love of Reading

Here at Spire we are very proud of our dedication to reading and the efforts we go to encourage and inspire a love of reading in our community. One of these methods includes the invention of our 'Reading Book Vending Machine' an incentive we are very proud of and one which the children love. Each week if the children read three times at home, they are then entered into our reading raffle. The two lucky winners who are selected each week get to visit the vending machine to select a book of their choice as well as an accompanying hot chocolate. Our invention won the 'Classroom Heroes 2020' Award which allowed us to install a new Promethean board in one of our classrooms. We would also like to say a huge thank you to the generous authors J.M. Carr, Jofree White and Liz Kessler who donated books for free to stock our machine.

World Book Day 2022

World Book Day at Spire was a huge success this year with a 'Mr Men and Mrs' theme. Some of the outfits were spectacular and the children wrote their own short story about their character following the structure and style of authors Roger and Adam Hargreaves.

Here are some of the amazing outfit efforts below.
