WORKING FOR OUR CHILDREN

PSHE @ Spire

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) is concerned with the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attributes children need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work in modern Britain (DCC ‘PSHE Matters’).

It is our aim to deliver a PHSE programme, which allows pupils to achieve their academic potential, and leave school equipped with skills they will need throughout later life as individuals, family members and members of society (PSHE Association, 2016).

Our Year 6 Children are currently taking part in the D.A.a.R.T Programme delivered by the charity Life Skills Education. The aim of this is to educate young people to lead safe and healthy lives and achieve their potentiall whilst providing drug and alcohol education andraising awareness.

Our Year 6 children have recently received first-aid training from Mini-Medics where they have learnt basic skills such as CPR, using a defibrillator and the recovery position. Here at Spire we believe these are crucial life-skills.
