Pupil Premium Information

Pupil Premium is a payment made to schools by the Government. It makes up part of the school's funding, is received into our budget and is made available for use throughout the school. Schools are free to decide how to allocate this funding to best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.

Spire Junior has one of the highest number of children eligible for Pupil Premium money in Derbyshire at 60%.

2024/2025 Current Allocation: £170,540 in Pupil Premium.

Our Main Challenges:

  • Supporting our children's Social, Emotional and Mental Health
  • Children entering education, and our school, with attainment levels lower than the national average
  • Raising the aspirations and dedication of our children
  • Varied life experiences on entry to Spire Junior School which leads to a cultural capital deficit
  • Ensuring our children have high levels of attendance
  • Limited language and communication Skills

Our Pupil Premium Strategy:

We follow EEF Guidance and allocate our funding in three different areas, which ensure we improve classroom pedagogy, provide targeted support and support whole school strategies:

  • Teaching
  • Targeted academic support
  • Wider strategies

Our Pupil Premium Strategy is a three year plan of how we are going to spend the funding in order to best support our disadvantaged children and have a positive impact on the challenges above. This year (2024 / 2025) is the first year of the three year plan.
